Intersil ICL3232 IC

The Intersil ICL3232 is a low-power RS-232 transmitter/receiver designed for use in battery-powered, hand-held, and portable equipment. It operates with a supply voltage range of 3V to 5.5V and supports data rates up to 250kbps. The device is compatible with EIA/TIA-232 and V.28/V.24 specifications, making it suitable for a wide range of applications including laptops, modems, printers, digital cameras, and mobile phones.

The ICL3232 features efficient on-chip charge pumps, which reduce the standby supply current to a minimal 1µA. It also includes 15kV ESD protection and is a drop-in replacement for several other RS-232 devices.
